Andover Library Closes from 10th to 11th September for computer system upgrade.

Andover Library will be closed from 10th to 11th September 2008. This closure is part of a wider roll-out programme of improvement to customer service. It will enable the installation of and training on the new Library Management System, 'Spydus'.

'Spydus', a new stock management and transaction system will enhance service delivery making it easier for customers to access information and services via the Internet and offering improvements for library staff so they can assist and advise. From the comfort of the home or office customers will be able to browse Hampshire County Council's entire catalogue with ease. Customers who register their e-mail address can choose to receive e-mail alerts when new book are added or other material on specified subjects have been added to stock. The new system will let customers reserve items to collect from a local library or even order items that are not listed.

Cllr Hughes said, "The new Library Management System will improve access to information and services for both regular visitors to the library and on-line users. However during the roll-out period in the autumn, customers may experience a reduced level of service as the new system is introduced. Library staff are working hard to minimise disruption and have the new system is up and running in late November."
